about the a.b.f.a
A = AMY . B = BEVERLAND . F = FAMILY . A = ASSOCIATION
Getting involved in the ABFA truly makes a difference at Amy Beverland Elementary, no matter how much time you can give. Whether you’re contributing an hour here and there or taking on a larger role, your efforts help build a vibrant, welcoming school community where students thrive and families are connected.
The combined efforts of parents, teachers, and the broader community play a huge role in creating a school environment that is not only supportive but also full of opportunity and fun. These partnerships allow the school to go beyond the basics, providing enriching programs and events that make the school experience even more special for all students. From fundraisers and family events to teacher support and school-wide activities, everyone’s involvement is valued and necessary.
Key Functions of the ABFA

Support & Enrich School Environment
The ABFA helps improve the school atmosphere through volunteer-driven activities that bring student peers and families together, as well as providing teacher support and classroom resources not otherwise available. As specific needs arise, the ABFA is able to provide scholarships and financial assistance to Amy Beverland families. From special facility improvements projects to funding for school supplies or student extracurricular fees, we work to improve the student learning environment in both big and small ways throughout the year.

Fundraising
Fundraising is a crucial aspect of the ABFA’s work at Amy Beverland, as it helps provide resources for programs and activities that are not covered by the school’s public funding. The ABFA’s fundraising efforts ensure that these “extras” can happen and that the school environment remains vibrant and engaging for all students. These funds help enhance the educational experience by supporting a range of activities and services that are otherwise not available.

Teacher and Staff Appreciation
Teachers and staff work tirelessly to create a positive and nurturing environment for students, and these efforts—though sometimes behind the scenes—are crucial to the overall success of the school. By funding initiatives like Staff Appreciation Week, hospitality meals and snacks, thoughtful gestures and a helping hand, the ABFA strives to ensure that our school staff feel recognized, valued, and appreciated for the hard work they put in every day with our children.
Did you know? The ABFA is able to offer our teachers an annual reimbursement program to cover classroom supplies and educational tools that are not covered by the school budget!

Community Building
The ABFA promotes strong relationships between families, teachers, and staff by organizing and funding activities that help families connect with each other and with the school. When parents and families come together it builds a stronger sense of community within the school and serves as a reminder that the entire school community is united in the shared goal of providing the best possible education for our students. It shows that everyone, both inside and outside the classroom, plays an important role in making our school a special place.
Building positive relationships with your child’s peers, educators and other parents play a key role in helping children navigate their environment, develop key life skills, and feel a sense of belonging. We encourage all ABE families to get involved in some way throughout the year to help in this mission.
how we help our school
These are just some of the wonderful things the ABFA provides to our school:
Classroom Teacher Reimbursement Program
We raise funds for our teachers, so they don’t take money out of their own pockets to have everything they need for the classroom.
Hospitality meals & snacks for teachers
Our volunteers are dedicated to supporting our hardworking teachers by providing special meals and snacks throughout the school year. These thoughtful gestures include organizing catered lunches, snack trays, and beverages to help fuel teachers during busy days and special events. Whether it’s a lunch for a professional development day or a snack break during parent-teacher conferences, these are just one way we show our appreciation for the dedication and care teachers put into their work. By providing these meals, we aim to create a welcoming and supportive environment for the educators who make such a difference in our children’s lives.
Replenishment of Classroom Supplies
As classroom supplies start to dwindle throughout the year, ABFA volunteers help replenish items like tissues, pencils, paper, markers erasers, and replacement headphones. We help take the burden off the teachers and ongoing requests to parents when supplies start to run out. Donations by generous parents and local businesses, allow this program to be possible. Consider making a donation to help in these efforts.
Back to School Picnic
To kick off the new school year, we invite both new and returning families to join us for a FREE outdoor picnic that’s fun for the entire family! The Dads’ Club takes charge at the grill, serving delicious hot dogs, burgers, chips, and desserts for all to enjoy. Families are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to relax on the lawn, mingle with other parents, and meet new classmates. Meanwhile, children can explore and play on the school grounds, making it a perfect evening to connect and celebrate the start of a great year ahead!
