League Rules & Code of Conduct

Game Time

  • Four 8 minute running quarters.

  • 1 minute break between quarters.

  • 4 – minute break between halves.

Goal Height

  • 8 foot for both boys and girls league

Possession

  • Start of game starts with a jump ball.

  • Possession for 2nd half will depend on who has the ball last at the end of the 2nd quarter.

  • Players match up using wristbands of like color.

Clock stoppage

  • Clock may stop 1 time per half per team for a timeout.

  • Clock may stop due to an on – court injury.

  • Clock will stop anytime due to a substitution. We will substitute at the 4 minute  mark of each quarter.

Defense

  • Players will not reach to steal the ball and players will not block shots. When this happens the players are reminded to not steal or block and the ball is given back to the team who originally had possession.

  • No guarding or “pressing” in the back court. Defense will start at the half court line once the ball is brought up to the half court line.

  • Only man to man defense is permitted.

  • All coaches will have whistles to make sure we keep the game under control.

Parking & Door Entrance

  • All spectators need to park in the back of the school(East Side of Building) by the gym doors. Make sure not to block any exits or the fenced area by the gym doors. There is a parking lot around the corner to use as well.

  • Parking: We must make sure we do not park in or block the shipping receiving area. It is vital we receive goods for our children in the evenings.

  • Everyone will enter and leave by the gym doors. Please make sure to clean up after yourselves and take your items back home with you.

Other Important Info

    • This year if a team is up by 15 points or more, we will stop keeping score and bring everyone score to zero to zero. This league is about the kids having fun and not how many points we score.

    • Good Sportsmanship is a requirement! Not only the players but parents and coaches alike. We must be respectful and remember no matter the level of the player. All players will get equal playing time.

    • There are bathrooms located in the gym. At no time is anyone permitted to go into the hallways or in the school. No spectators or participants should leave the gym area.

    • The League follows all MSDLT closure. If school is closed, so is basketball.
